Field Service Technician
Full Time: Field Service Technician - US
We are seeking a full time Field Service Technician - REMOTE
Based in Chicago, IL Chicago, IL, Dallas, Texas Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA, Germantown, WI, Milwaukee, WI, New York, Orlando, Florida, Phoenix or AZ.
Must live in proximity within 1 hour of major airport.
Working from your home, the Field Service Technician provides prompt and accurate technical support. The daily work environment will be in optical labs, working directly with customers throughout major US cities. The field tech will maintain a normal travel schedule which involves approximately 80% travel to customers and 20% office and other activities. We are seeking candidates with 2-5 years of field service experience in industries having electro-mechanical skills, a good knowledge of computers, and those that take “ownership” of customer issues. Applicants that have a comprehensive understanding of the optical industry, specifically coating and polishing machines, will have strong consideration. The candidate will have the responsibility for the maintenance, and repairs on all Satisloh surfacing equipment. Previous work as an electro-mechanical technician in the optical industry is a huge plus.

Your Responsibilities:
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on all RX optical machinery.
- Fosters and maintains a working environment within the department that encourages positive, open and professional communication and a strong focus on the customer.
- Possesses ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic schematics.*
- Analyze and repair mechanical problems.*
- Maintains files and prepares correspondence, memos and reports..*
- Proficiency with multi-meter to analyze electrical / electronic circuits.*
- Coordinates with customer on STEP visits and communicates findings.*
- Maintains ongoing contact with STEP Service Director to discuss scheduling.*
- Prepares Service Work Orders for all customer visits.*
- Updates and maintains customer database.*
- Maintains tools needed for STEP visits.*
- Provides STEP coordinator with STEP parts requirments.*
- Attends product/operations training in Germantown with potential travel to Europe.
- Arranges travel to remote work sites and strives to keep travel costs to a minimum.*
- Works with all departments to assure maximum coordination of efforts in the resolution of common problems and the attainment of common objectives.*
Your Background:

- High School Diploma required, preferred Technical Degree (two or four year college) or Armed Forces Electronics Training, a plus.
- Excel at communication (verbal and written), have sound judgment and decision making skills and possess the ability to think under pressure, take action and facilitate customer solutions.
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Mail, and Internet)
- Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows; SIGHT Program and Microsoft Access.
